Originating as a single off-type plant in a greenhouse full of Bhut Jolokia, Bengle Naga has wrinkled fruit that change from light green to red as they mature. The fruit have an elongated wedge shape and measure about 20 x 60mm. Their flavour is quite distinctive and quite delicious; it has been described as “bubblegummy”, though this doesn’t do it justice!
Given this variety’s pedigree, the fruit deliver magnificently on the heat, reaching in excess of 900,000 SHU. Ranking as a superhot, which are the hottest chillies in the world, Bengle Naga packs enough heat to challenge even the most hard core thrill seekers.
The plants can be quite tall and very productive, and are better grown in the ground or large pots.
Heat level: 732,000–923,000 SHU or more (superhot!)
